Volume 12: The Stroke of Midnight

Electricity
Flows out from my fingertips
Midnight poetry

I search the darkness
For a place to deposit
Imagination

Poetry disguised
As magic comes to life
When the clock strikes twelve

Volume 360: Run

My half sentence left hanging
You flew off so fast
Said something about "space"
And how "this" never lasts

I heard you're traveling the world
Guess you're sick of our fights
So you'll drink in the freedom
And fall in love every night

I've never seen anyone
Run so far, so fast
Are you trying to escape
Your future or your past?

Thought back to the days when
Our world revolved around love
Guess it does orbit something
But it sure isn't us

Hang up your jacket
On old dusty dreams
And brush away my heart
Every time you hang up on me

It's been a few weeks
I'm sitting here confused
Not sure if I'm going mad
Or just missing you

I've never seen anyone
Run so far, so fast
And I can't help but wonder
If you'll ever come back

Your suitcase, exhausted
Is passed out on the couch
From  your non-stop running
Day in and day out

You're both so hung over
From the cities and sights
Empty bottle of patron
Empty memory of last night

You flew off your flight
Ran so far, so fast
Did you think there was a chance
Or did you know it wouldn't last?

Since the day you left
I've been too scared to dream
Maybe your wandering heart
Would wander back to me

You can run wherever you like
But I've always known
You can run far; run fast
But there's nothing like home

Volume 19: Wings

She was a girl
Of years ten and eight,
Stuck in a fight that was not hers.
Her years ten and eight
Were enough to thrust responsibility in her hands:
Power and freedom
That she had no idea how to use.
To her, these were just words,
Lying words that sounded full
Of hope and promises
But she knew that in the dusk of reality
These words were nothing but shadows,
Hollow and slowly fading into the darkness.
Each night she prayed for wings
Wings to lift her up and out of this place.
But each night the shadows grew
Darker and longer,
Stretching over everything she had ever known
Plentiful were those ominous shadows,
Clouding her mind,
Clouding her vision,
Clouding her reality.
Until one day they led her to the old tress bridge
That rested halfheartedly over the river.
That day,
As she saw eighteen years' worth
Of snapshot memories
In a kaleidoscope slideshow,
As the icy water rushed up to meet her,
She smiled.
For that was the day
She finally grew wings
Grew wings to fly,
To lift her up out of the shadows
And into a place of true promise.

Volume 3: 7/13/12-7/15/12

I close tired eyes
Holy voice, greater than life
Lifts me off my feet

Never-ending love
The author of salvation
Brings me back again

Background guitar chords
Break open my heart and mind
A prayer for love

His voice reaches out
Loving, holy, ever true
Fills my broken heart

His voice fills the void
When I haven't strength to sing
The ultimate love

Volume 17: The Cityscape Horizon

The silver moon breaks
The cityscape horizon and
Illuminates my dreams

Waves crash on a shore
The moon is my only friend
Conversations fade

I rest my fingers
On the familiar keys
Of a midnight moonbeam

The city's night sounds
Fade from beneath my wings
A heartbeat in the night

Eyelids fluttering
Like my silk bedroom curtains
I let my dreams in

I reach for the stars
Like skyscrapers around me
And almost succeed

My four-poster bed
Is a smorgasbord of dreams
Called New York City

Train leaves the platform
At  reality station
For a world of dreams

Volume 8: The Silence That Follows

Waves crash on a shore
The moon is my only friend
Conversations fade

It's a silent scream
Of frustration and of hurt
The tear hits the ground

A single tear falls
Silently mixing into
The pool of fresh blood
Shadows on the wall
Remind my restless dreams
That they are not alone

Volume 39: Grace

Repeat after me:
"I will not cheat on Larry"
Ice cream is so good
